So...

We did not go to Liberty memorial, like I had promised...  I know, kind of a let down I'm sure.  It is still on my list of things "to do".  Don't worry.

We did however get a lot of relaxing done, which is really the most important thing to do on the weekend anyway.

Naps, took some pics, met up with friends and had ice cream.

Yep, that about sums it up ;)  Still a great weekend in my book!

Never miss an opportunity to strike a pose.

This is how tired you really are...

Even though you won't ever admit it.  Kindergarten is wearing you out girl!!

Love you, my little wild sleeper!

Lunch Dates

Since school has started, I come have lunch with you once a week.  To be honest, it is probably one of the things I look the most forward to, next to the weekend.

It is really so fun to come sit with you, and meet your new friends.  And the conversations that I hear, well, they are entertaining to say the least!

I'm so fortunate to be able to do this with you.  I'm glad that I work so close and can be at your school in 2 minutes if need be.  Being so close gives me a sense of relief.

Thanks for wanting me to come have lunch with you.  I know there will come a day where having mom around, won't be so cool.  So once a week, you can count on me, to be there to sit by you, and talk to you and your friends, and open all of your gogurts.  Because, that is just what cool moms do.

Love you so much my little Pirate!!

Labor Day, I love you.

Last weekend was one of the best weekends we've had in a long time...probably due to the fact it was a 3 day weekend.

Saturday night, you had your VERY FIRST sleepover at a friends house, without me!  And that was a BIG DEAL!  Of course it was with Cheekies, so I wasn't nervous at all (and of course Becca kept me up on the play by play with pictures).  And you practically were shoving me out of her house when I dropped you off.  Yeah, no worries there.

Sunday we had a nice family dinner and then Monday, oh Monday!  It was Labor Day, and we decided to pick up lunch and have a picnic out at Loose Park.

Lunch under a tree, a little time at the splash park and then some walking around the rose garden.  It was perfect.  When we got back in the car to head home, you fell asleep almost instantly so daddy and I decided to just drive around the city.  We stopped by Liberty Memorial and I got out and looked around.  Lived here all my life, and I've never been there!  It was cool!  So, we decided we were going to go back this weekend...while you were awake, and take you up in the tower.  I hope it's as neat as I have it planned in my head.  Regardless, we are all going to do it, and like it, because we are a family, and that is just what we do.

Mommy

Liberty Memorial.  Yes we are taking a ride to the top of that tower Sunday.  Get excited.

Speaking of Spirit...

Spirit week

Now that you are a big school kid and all, you get to participate in Spirit Week.  This last week was the first home football game, so every day was a different theme.  Thursday was 80's theme, and really, you just rocked it.  And I'd have to say, it brought back some good memories from my childhood.  You little material girl, you!

It really happened.

You seriously started Kindergarten...  As much as I tried to deny it was happening, it really did!

And, we both did really good!

Well, if I'm being perfectly honest, I did cry the entire day before you started.  But Thursday, the first official day, I only teared up just a bit.  I'm very lucky though, that I had a great support system to keep my from sobbing the whole day...

Oh, back to you.  Yeah, you did great!  Greeted me with a huge smile and hug when I picked you up at the end of the day.  You love your teacher and all your new friends.  And then, we celebrated with ice cream...obviously.

Gosh, I am so proud of you.  Change is just a tiny bump in the road for you.  It better not be so easy, say, when you go off to college.  Because chances are, I'll need some heavy medication for that day!

Happiness!  We did it!!!

Weekend at the lake!

Before school started we really wanted to get away for a weekend.  Just relax, have no worries about an agenda or a time schedule.  So, Erin and I decided that we should make it into a little family getaway and head to Kirksville to rent a cabin by the lake!

We decided to keep it a surprise from you and Maddie the whole way, to see if you could guess where we were going by the clues we were giving you...  Quite a few times, wishfully thinking, you guessed Disney World...  good try girls.  But about 30 minutes outside of Kirksville you finally got it right, that we were going "camping" (Glamping according to Erin).

We had such a nice weekend!  An attempted boat ride out on the lake to go fishing with your daddies (cut short by a torrential downpour...but it's the thought that counts...right?).  Some beach time, s'mores cones, grilling out and lots of movies and coloring.  It really was wonderful, and I hope we make it an annual trip.

Love you all!

Matching camo suits were a must for the daddies
